A Sonoma County Wilderness Inspired Nursery

Sonoma County is rich with design inspiration. There is so much about the landscape that can naturally be brought into the indoors. What do you think about when you think of Sonoma County? I think of livestock, agriculture, vibrant sunsets, mustard flowers in between vineyard rows, turbulent seas, old barns, fog, parks, open spaces, evergreen trees and critters. I think about big towns that feel like small towns and cozy spaces.

That welcoming mood is exactly what I wanted to create when designing my first (in what I hope will be a series) of Sonoma County inspired nurseries.

Land of Nod Archway Crib in Cocoa $799 // 5. Bannor Toys Personalized Wood Truck $15 // 6. French Oak Wine Barrel Planter $80 // 7. I Can Fly $3.99 // 8. Walnut Animal Society Chester the Raccoon $98 // 9. Sweet Peony Press Typography Print $10-35 // 10. Land of Nod Folk Denim Rug $229-649

For this nursery storyboard, I chose the redwood forest to give it some focus. Sonoma County has so much to offer it is hard to contain it in just one nursery! The Charcoal Cloud mobile  reminds me of the fog that rolls in from the west most nights. The rug with the denim and off white stripes reminds me of the Russian River and its sandy banks. The French Oak Barrel is the perfect vessel to hold toys like the Personalized Wood Truck, Chester the Raccoon, and the I Can Fly golden book. The cheerful fox embroidery hoop and the typography print remind me of the simplicity of childhood.

I hope you enjoy this nursery as much as I enjoyed creating it!
