2017 Guide to Fall Fun Runs, Cycling Events, and Turkey Trots

When we first started gathering information about local runs this fall, we were blown away by the sheer number of events! Clearly wine country likes fitness; we collected a nice big list for you so you can run, walk, or watch these great races (or even know which days to avoid certain surface streets!)

 

Levi’s Grandfondo

Saturday, September 30th

8:00 a.m. start time, Expo & Music Festival open 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Levi’s GranFondo is both a challenging and competitive mass start cycling event hosting riders of all ability levels from around the world. It began in 2009 with the inaugural ride hosting 3,500 participants and is the brainchild of former professional cyclist Levi Leipheimer. Levi donates 100% of his time to the event that bears his name so that our community and the charities that benefit from your registration fees and fundraising can thrive. Levi’s GranFondo is heralded as one of the best organized cycling events in the world by sources such as Red Kite Prayer, Road Bike Action, and Outside Online. There are 11 routes to choose from, ranging from an easy 8.3-mile family/beginning route all the way up to a 116-mile behemoth! 2060 West College Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA 95404

Marin Moonlight Run 5K/10K

Friday, October 6th

6:30 p.m – 7:45 p.m. check-in | What would be more fun than a beautiful Indian summer evening race under the full moon along the trails of the San Francisco Bay in Marin County? We don’t know either! A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Novato Parks, Recreation and Community Services Youth Financial Assistance Programs. You bring the flashlights or headlamps and we will provide the glow sticks and post-race goodies. We encourage families of all ages to join us for this community run that is a unique Friday night adventure weaving through the sights and sounds of two wonderful marshes. SF Bay Trail at Hamilton Landing, Novato, CA

 

Healdsburg Half Marathon & 5k

Sunday, October 8th

7:30am | Prepare yourself for an epic adventure through California’s award winning wine region. Start your journey in historical downtown Healdsburg Ca. located only one hour north of San Francisco. The first mile runs through the residential area of Healdsburg past 100 year old homes and quaint streets. Just outside town are miles of vineyards and dozens of wineries waiting for your viewing pleasure. Nice gently rolling roads with breathtaking views of Dry Creek Valley and Alexander Valley. This the third race of a three half marathon race series. If you finish Windsor Half, Water To Wine Half and Healdsburg Half you will receive a custom label bottle of wine with all three races on the label. Asti Tour de Vine

Saturday, October 14th

7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. | Join your hosts, the Cloverdale Rotary Club for the 10th annual Asti Tour de Vine, a 25k, 50k, 100k, 100m, or 100m (flat) (century) bicycle tour. The tour is on Saturday, October 14, 2017, and takes place in Northern Sonoma County, California’s breathtaking wine country. October is the perfect season for a bike tour in beautiful Northern Sonoma County. Ride on uncrowded routes through charming rural valleys, past autumn-hued vineyards, alongside the meandering Russian River, and on pathways overlooking Lake Sonoma. At the end of your ride, a bountiful luncheon, prepared by the Cloverdale Rotary Club and served with wine, awaits you in Cloverdale at the Historic Asti Winery. Cloverdale Harvest Marathon, Half & 10K

Sunday, October 22nd

7:30/8:30 a.m. | Experience the unparalleled scenic beauty of northern Sonoma County’s wine country as you run on groomed dirt roads through vineyards resplendent in their fall colors. Though the event is less than 90 miles north of San Francisco, and just 15 minutes north of Healdsburg, our natural beauty and small-town charm will feel like another world. Healdsburg Wine Country Half Marathon & Hallowine 5k

Saturday, October 28th

7:30 a.m. | This end of wine harvest and Halloween themed race runs through the renowned Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys in late October when the weather is ideal for running and the autumn-colored vineyards glow in the warm sunshine. This stunning course starts at Francis Ford Coppola Winery and concludes at the Warm Springs Recreation Area for the post-race Wine + Music Festival. Enter the costume contest, win wine awards for your age group, and enjoy wine-tasting, food, beer, exhibitors, live music and more! A Hallowine 5K is also offered. Gutbuster Fun Run & Walk

Sunday, November 5th

Check in: 6:30 a.m. | Join us Sunday November 5, 2017 for a family fun run and walk in beautiful Healdsburg California. The event will include 3 courses. One will be a 12.5K partial trail run up and over Fitch Mountain, a 10K around Fitch Mountain and a relatively flat 3K around town. All net proceeds will benefit non-profits that support stomach cancer research and support of patients and family that are impacted by cancer. Healdsburg Downtown Plaza, HealdsburgCA  95448

Healdsburg Turkey Trot

Thursday, November 24th

8:00-11:00 a.m. | Join us on Thanksgiving morning for The Healdsburg Turkey Trot a 5K run/walk through downtown Healdsburg. Run or walk the 5K before you head off for the rest of your day. The race starts at 8am. Again in 2017, all sponsorship dollars and money raised will go to support the Drew Esquivel Scholarship Fund and The Healdsburg Food Pantry will be onsite at the Turkey Trot this year to collect donations of non-perishable food for the local community. Napa Valley Turkey Chase

Thursday, November 24th

8:00 a.m. | A fun family run/walk along the beautiful Napa River Trail. Kids 7 years old and younger will have the opportunity to run a 100 meter race through the finish line. Marin Turkey Trot

Thursday, November 24th

8:30 a.m. | “Run off the calories before you feast” with this Marin Thanksgiving Day tradition! The Marin Turkey Trot is perfect for all ages, featuring a one mile youth race, the popular 5K trot itself, and a 19K race for those who are ready to push themselves. By participating in this event, you will be supporting the SF Marin Food Bank along with School Fuel, which is a foundation that raises money to pay for programs for Novato Unified School District.
