Being a mom of two boys, my husband and I always try to find a good balance when we travel and dine out. We often search for the cool, kid-friendly places to have a good craft beer after a day at Great America, the water park, or Train Town. Fortunately, we live in a very welcoming community here in Sonoma County. And luckily, there are several family-friendly breweries to choose from. I’ve selected the best family-friendly breweries and craft beer venues that are suited for the whole family. These fun spots provide fun games or a separate setting for families, and they even cater to groups with littles. And the best part – you don’t have to worry about bringing your kids or being judged for drinking a beer.

5000 Roberts Lake Road, Rohnert Park CA 94928
The new Rohnert Park location is right on the lake and is the perfect setting for a nice relaxing afternoon. The kid-friendly play area has giant chalkboards to draw on, Jenga, Connect Four, and toys to play with. All of this is within arm’s reach of your Adirondack chairs. The brewery restaurant serves up a mean root beer float, wood-fired pizzas, and chicken wings. This brewpub definitely screams family-friendly.
630 3rd Street, Santa Rosa CA 95404
There is a great outdoor patio space for families to chill out. The venue offers a great happy hour menu with many options for kids and parents alike. The kids can have fun coloring while the family catches a sports game on one of the big screen TV’s. Grab a table outside by one of the fire pits for a fun dining experience. The whole family can have a good time, and it doesn’t cost a fortune to feed the entire family!
725 4th Street, Santa Rosa CA 95404
Russian River Brewpub is the beer mecca of the craft beer world. This brewery/restaurant sells a shirt specifically for the littles in our lives – the “Tiny Pliny” shirt. They serve grilled cheese and chicken wings along with root beer. Russian River Brewpub is kid-friendly, but it’s best to visit on weekday afternoons with kids. Evenings and weekends can get really crowded. Also, don’t bring in a stroller, since there isn’t enough room to move around in there. Mom and dad can enjoy a pint from the 20+ beers available on draft. If you are looking to do a tasting, they offer two tasting flights – California beers and Belgian-style beers. Visitors can also order any of the beers in a half pint, too.
4036 Montgomery Drive, Santa Rosa CA 95405
Right across from the trails of Annadel, Spring Lake, and Howarth Park where kids can run around, play, and bike their little hearts out. The Trail House is the place to go with your bikes. The owners have children and they want to provide a space for families to go after their fun day of bike riding in the nearby parks. This hip family-friendly spot offers dynamite coffee, cold pints, and a variety of different foods. Don’t fret if you didn’t bring your bike lock – you can hang your bike up while you eat. There’s a repair shop in back too, so if there are any flats, they’ve got you covered. This truly is a one-stop-shop for people with kids.
7704 Bell Road, Windsor CA 95492
Located just a few minutes from the Windsor Town Green, this family owned and operated business invites people with families to visit. The owners, Aron and Amy Levin, bring their two boys Carlton and Cooper often, and these boys take their jobs serious! The brewery has good beers on tap, food trucks on the weekends, and a sandbox on the patio for small children to play while parents eat and hang out.
935 Gravenstein Avenue, Sebastopol CA 95472
This West County hot spot gives parents a variety of food choices for their kids that aren’t the typical burger. The “kiddos” menu consists of delicious dishes like a quesadilla, fish and chips, or mi nino plate. I love to order the fish tacos, and there’s a great selection of craft beers from all over to choose from. This re-purposed Foster’s Freeze is known for the frosties, so after your meal, let the kids go crazy with dessert!
229 Water Street North, Petaluma CA 94952
Right in downtown Petaluma, this hip venue has a kid-friendly open patio and an expansive communal dining area. They have ample space outside for kids to play and bocce courts. It’s a great place for families to grab lunch and to feel welcome.
