Green Music Center Will Make Your Summer Epic
Summertime in wine country means a lot of things: wine tasting, festivals, concerts, and lots and lots of time outdoors enjoying our beautiful weather. But I found that sometimes my friend time gets pushed off in favor of family time, during the best months of the summer. And what happens when I push off friend time? I get overwhelmed, frazzled, and stressed out. We can’t pour from empty cups, can we?
No, we cannot.
But planning a night out with girlfriends feels hard too, amiright? Where do you even go? You’re probably not looking for dive-bars (when your house might resemble one already). And the last thing you need is a frat party vibe after a day of diapers and tantrums.
That’s why you should probably just go ahead and reserve some concert tickets for any one of the fantastic events happening at Weill Hall + Lawn this summer.
At Sonoma State University’s Green Music Center
Plan a Legendary Mom-Date with Your Best Friends
Situated in Cotati and just a couple miles from the 101 corridor, Weill Hall + Lawn at Sonoma State University’s Green Music Center is perfectly positioned for guests from all over the county. But the location is improved dramatically by the vibe and aesthetic beauty of the venue:
The Green Music Center is the performing arts presenter at Sonoma State University. The mission of the Green Music Center is to present the most compelling artists of our time, to investigate ideas, and to provide access to diverse artistic experiences that educate, connect, and inspire Sonoma State University and neighboring North Bay communities.
Surrounded by the foothills of Sonoma County, the Green Music Center includes the 1,400-seat Weill Hall, with a rear wall that opens to lawn seating for a unique summertime experience.
There are three seating options: indoor, outdoor seated, and lawn.
With sprawling space galore, you can easily set up a beautiful picnic for your and your besties.
If you have lawn seats, you should pack some blankets. And if you’re feeling extra fancy, tote in some pretty serveware too. The great thing about the Green Music Center is that it’s really easy to take your wagon with you.
We loved these cute branded cups from the Green Music Center’s beverage bar. Unbreakable and reusable? Yes please.
The Menu: Theirs and Ours
We packed in a few of our favorites, a tried and true Caprese salad, and a charcuterie platter for nibbles.
But the menu at the Green Music Center did not disappoint when it came to more filling options:
Dining offerings at the Green Music Center are expanded during the summer months in Weill Hall + Lawn. Boxed meals and small platters from San Francisco’s iconic bakery, Boudin are available for pre-order; and a wide variety of on-site concessions ranging from cheese platters to sandwiches, prize-winning wines to local craft brews are available for purchase. Patrons seated on Weill Lawn are also encouraged to pack their own picnics to enjoy throughout the performance.
Everything was so tasty!

Food & Drink: How to do it Right
At the bottom and the top of the expansive venue you’ll find great food and drink options for every taste bud, but perhaps our favorite part about the Weill Hall Summer experience is that you can pre-order, not just your food, but also your beer and wine! Less lines means more time for bonding with our best friends.
From beer on tap to bottles to share, and plenty of non-alcolhic options as well, we loved the Green Music Center options. The lines move fast and the wine is local! Win win.
We loved this Sonoma Cutrer Rose for our pre-show picnic.
And the Chardonnay was perfect to dip into during the show.
The Ambience: Full but not Crowded
Due to the design of the beautiful outdoor space, despite thousands of guests, you never feel crowded.
From every spot in the venue, you can see the screen showcasing the performance, no matter how bright the sun is shining.
The Green Music Center is the perfect place to tuck in to delicious food, scrumptious wine, and hilarious grown-up girl bonding time with your very best people: your mom friends.
We had so much fun enjoying the GMC for an early summer event, and good news: There is so much more on the menu for the gorgeous wide open venue!
