Skip dinner, call for delivery, and pop some popcorn. It’s Halloween movie night! A few times a year my family and I enjoy a night of cuddles, treats, and movies. We blow up the air mattresses in the living room, bring out the warm blankets and pillows, and create a simple family tradition. Halloween makes for the perfect excuse to have a family movie night. We carve our pumpkins, roast our seeds, light some candles for ambiance, and settle in for some spooky fun.

To help create this Halloween movie list I turned to the website Common Sense Media, a wonderful resource that independently reviews and rates all forms of children’s media. From books and music to movies and apps, Common Sense Media provides a user-friendly rating system to help guide parents in appropriate media selection. Content is not only reviewed for language, violence, sex, and drugs or alcohol usage, but also rates the positive messages, positive role models, consumerism, and educational value. With 3 busy kids and not enough hours in the day, this website has become an invaluable tool in navigating my children’s media exposure.
