Time for the Keep It Simple Fall Bucket List!
The cool air is coming in, school schedules are set and yet family life can feel just as hectic as the warmer months. Summer is almost over and Fall will soon begin. So let us take some of the planning stress away with this simple but fun Family Fall Bucket List. And don’t worry we are not going to overwhelm you with must do ideas to fill up your calendar but you could fill up a week or two nicely. We don’t want to overwhelm you busy mamas, so here is our “keep it simple” list that will help you make the most of fall! (Our complete list is linked below)
Visit a Pumpkin Patch
Choose from one of the many Sonoma or Napa County pumpkin patches, take a picnic and enjoy the day. We have everything from corn mazes, hayrides, jumpy houses, to a large selection of pumpkin varieties to choose from so don’t forget the camera as you capture some seasonal photos. Or better yet arrange a photo session at one of the pumpkin patches!
Just because summer is over do not let your body get lazy. Take the family on a local hike and get everyone moving. Enjoy watching the leaves change color as the sun sets or if you are brave take the family out to watch the sunrise! Add in a fun scavenger hunt to keep the little ones moving along the trail. Or if you want to challenge your family make a pact to hike a different trail once a week during Fall.
Pick Your Own Apples
A favorite family activity since we had kids is to go to the local farms and pick our own apples. The kids burn off energy and we all get to eat some delicious fruit. And again the photo opportunities are AMAZING!! I had my own maternity photos taken at a local apple ranch a couple of years ago! Join one of the WCMB neighborhood groups and be one of the first to know about photo mini sessions and playdates at the farms.
Homemade Caramel Corn
Make yummy caramel corn with the kids for yourselves or as treats for their teachers. Add in extra candy bits or chopped up chocolate and let your families imagination run wild. Play Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory in the background for some inspiration! Don’t forget to tag those photos so we can see the results #winecountrykids
Halloween Movie Night
Pick a family friendly (or more scary movie for when the little ones have gone to bed) and cuddle under the throws we can now get out of storage. Family favorites in our house include Hotel Transylvania and Hocus Pocus. What are some of your favorite Fall movies? Movie recommendations for the Family Fall Bucket List are always welcome!
Make Leaf Art
On those days you just do not want to leave the house but need to keep the kids entertained break out the crafts. Wine Country Mom, Cat Roby, gives us this easy step by step guide on Leaf Art for the Fall. Perhaps this could lead to early Christmas gift ideas for the grandparents! Anything to get that holiday gift checklist ticked off early!
Get Some Sleep
Take advantage of the shorter evenings and the sky getting darker by going to bed when the kids do. Or at least try really winding down when the kids are in bed. Try some essential oils if you have trouble relaxing in the evening or want to get extra sleep hours this Fall. I might even try a little on the kids when the caramel corn high hits!
Most of all enjoy the Fall season and we hope you manage to make it a relaxed one with the family.
