Fun and Exciting Toddler Classes in the City of Sonoma

Fun and Exciting Toddler Classes in the City of SonomaAs a new Mama and the busybody type I am, I knew that family-friendly toddler classes were something we needed to do. So I did some research and found some toddler classes that are perfect for newborns through five-year-olds. And they’re all family-friendly, so parents and toddlers can have a blast together.

Sonoma Aquatic Club

17350 Vailetti Drive, Sonoma CA 95476

We love this club because the staff is friendly and we’re always greeted by everyone. The Sonoma Aquatic Club offers a Parent and Tot program for ages 3 months to 3 years. The ratio is also small at 8:1. Their classes are held on Mondays at 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., and each class is 30 minutes in length. We’re not members of the club, so we do drop-in classes at $15 each. You do need to call ahead and book a space for your child.

Park Point Sonoma

19111 Sonoma Highway, Sonoma CA 95476

On Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. they have Family Swim. I have yet to try it with our son, but I’m looking forward to taking him once the weather warms up (and it remains)!

Sonoma Gymnastic Academy

1620 Carneros Meadows Ln #108, Sonoma CA 95476

We love this academy. As soon as our son could walk, we began taking him to their toddler classes.  The staff is very friendly and we value all the coaches.  We take our son to the Me and My Shadow class, where they do a combination of courses, group learning activities, and end the class with parachute time and singing. Here are the classes they currently offer for toddlers:

6 months – 12 months – Infant Academy for Crawlers

The class runs 30 minutes. Academy for Crawlers is a class where parents and babies work on developing motor skills while strengthening growing muscles.

1 – 3 years old – Me & My Shadow

The class runs for 45 minutes. Me & My Shadow is a class where children are lead in particular skills throughout the class. Also, children are encouraged to explore the circuits and develop confidence in their strength, balance, and body awareness.

1 – 5 years old – Music & Movement

The class runs for 45 minutes. Children learn about rhythm and rolling in this class. Free-form movement exploration and hands-on musical interludes with various instruments entertain the kids through physical and mental engagement with their guardians.

{Story Time}

Sonoma Valley Library

755 West Napa Street, Sonoma CA 95476
Claire is an engaging book reader, and she connects well with children, especially toddlers. We have been to story time and my son loves the books that are chosen. Claire also sings with the kids, which is how my son learned Hickory Dickory Dock.  The Sonoma public library currently has three fun story times:
Wee Read – A story time for children under the age of three yeas old, which takes place on Thursdays from 10:30 – 11 a.m.
Preschool Story Time – A story time for children ages three through six, which takes place on Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Family Story Time – Children of all ages are welcome to enjoy stories and tales, which takes place on Mondays from 6 – 6:30 p.m.

{Other Family Activities to Explore}

The following activities are other possible adventures  and toddler classes for your family.

Heartful Family Yoga

276 East Napa Street, Sonoma CA 95476
This is a new program at the Sonoma Community Center.  The program is designed for babies and children between the ages of 18 months and 5 years old. It’s held on Sundays from  8:30 – 9:15 a.m. The instructor is very friendly and welcoming, and we are excited about attending this class.

Dance, Soccer, and Music

Sonoma Conservatory of Dance has classes for dancers 2 – 6 years of age. The Come Soar Program follows the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, along with the SCD’s believe that imagination is key in dance! They use poems, stories, props, and music in their classes.

 Sonoma Academy of Dance & Arts, SADA – This is a little gem that a mom shared with me the other day. I heard of the soccer program for toddlers in the area, but I found this site offered so much more!

Sonoma Dance – Although most classes are for ages 3 and above, there is a class for 2 – 3-year-olds called Creative Movement from 3:30 – 4:10 p.m.

Soccer Bugs – Ages 22 months – 3 1/2 years of age. The classes are on Fridays from 9:45 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

Music With Sarah – Music with Sarah welcomes young children, parents, and teachers into the magical world of music and dance! Sarah’s early childhood program teaches music theory and dance for kids ages 15 months – 5 years old.

Art Escape

17474 Sonoma Highway, Sonoma CA 95476 (Located in Boyes Hot Springs)

My son will begin attending classes at Art Escape this month. They have opened up a four-week program called Art Sprout. Parents and toddlers ages 2 – 5 years of age will learn about different artworks, play games, make art, and display it in the art gallery.  Furthermore, the last session includes a field trip to the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art! Classes are held Thursday mornings on March 8, 15, and 22 from 9 – 11 a.m. and March 29 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the museum. The best thing about these classes is that they’re free!

Mothers Club

Sonoma Valley Mother’s Club – I am currently a club member of this wonderful group. Most noteworthy is that the mothers in the club are either mothers-to-be or mothers of children 5 years of age or younger. You do need to have a Membership, but it includes playgroups, networking with local moms, and more. We love the winter indoor play space on Tuesdays from 10 – 11:30 a.m. The mothers in this group have been very welcoming.
