7 Spectacular Wardrobe Essentials for Wear Red DayRed: A Color for a Cause

It’s bold, and it makes a statement. It stands for love, and it’s a color that’s symbolic of the beautiful organ in our bodies that doesn’t skip a beat. Red has become the standout color for a nationally dedicated day that brings awareness to the #1 killer of women – heart disease. “National Wear Red Day” was founded by the American Heart Association in 2003 and is celebrated on the first Friday of February each year. Heart disease has long been associated with men, but the American Heart Association wanted to change that and bring an awareness to all that it’s a disease that effects everyone, including women. With National Wear Red Day, women (and men and children) all across America are encouraged to dress in red to show support and love for women’s health. This year, Wear Red Day falls on February 2nd, so start thinking RED!

Target loves red, and we love Target.

What better store to shop our red looks at for National Wear Red Day than everyone’s go-to…Target! We’ve rounded up our favorite must-have pieces from Target’s style for you to add to your National Wear Red Day look. From basic to bold, cozy to dressy, SAHM to working mom, use this guide to style your look. Prep your red outfit now with these fabulous picks. #GoRedForWomen

{1} Any Day Long-Sleeve Plaid Button-Down

It’s still winter, so plaid is still totally acceptable. Pair this laid back top with jeans and sneakers, or dress it up with a chunky costume necklace and ankle booties. Roll those sleeves if the sun is shining, and let that red stand out. A plaid top for under $20!? We’ll take it.

{2} Ava & Viv Ribbed Sweater Dress

A simple sweater dress in your winter wardrobe is a must for a last-minute date night or lunch in the city. And this one from Target’s Ava & Viv line is red! We love the length on this, hitting just above the knees, and the ribbed style adds to the cozy feel. Throw on a pair of tall boots or ankle booties, along with a drop-down necklace, and you’re set!

{3} A New Day Skinny Chino Pants

Two words: RED PANTS. Talk about making a statement to support women’s health! These chino-style pants are high-waisted and cropped at the ankle. Pull any solid color top from your closet to pair with them, along with a denim jacket and easy sneakers or cute ankle booties. Chino-style pants flow nicely into your spring wardrobe, so you’ll get lots of wear out of them!

{4} Isabel Maternity by Ingrid & Isabel Long-Sleeve Maternity T-Shirt

Hey bump mamas – Target style has plenty of red looks for you, too. Check out this adorable maternity top for under $15! The lightweight fabric and almond-drop neckline pair for a comfy look. Add jeans and you’ve got a perfect everyday outfit with cute ruched sides!

{5} Sylvia Alexander Wrap Sweater

This over-sized wrap sweater is a definite must-have in your wardrobe, not only for Wear Red Day, but everyday. Throw it over any top for extra warmth or wrap it tight with a belt at waist-level as your main piece. Whatever the occasion, this chunky wrap sweater will leave you feeling cozy and bold for under $40.

{6} SUGARFIX by Bauble Bar Beaded Statement Necklace

Have you seen Bauble Bar’s new line of fun jewelry at Target over the past few months? It’s glamorous, yet affordable (thank you, Target) and super trendy. This beaded necklace is three-tiered and oh-so-perfect with any solid top. When in doubt, throw on this necklace to show support for women and heart disease!

{7} Merona Samantha Mid-Calf Rain Boots

Rain boots are a staple in every California mama’s closet, but red rain boots!? Oh, come on! Add these bright boots to your collection, and wear them on Wear Red Day to truly make a statement and spread awareness of women and heart disease. They’re sleek, classic, and under $25!

We hope these items from Target style have given you inspiration to start prepping your look for National Wear Red Day! Help support the American Heart Association and spread awareness for women and heart disease on Friday, February 2nd. And don’t forget to share the love with #GoRedForWomen.
