Mother’s Day. Breakfast in bed, birds chirping, kids getting along, flowers on your nightstand, and mimosas. Oh, wait – I was dreaming out loud. While breakfast in bed sounds lovely, I’m also thinking about the crumbs in the sheets (ugh) and the mess in the kitchen, while fearfully protecting the flowers on my nightstand from two giant wagging lab tails. In addition, I’m wondering if hubby used “the good stuff” for the mimosas or something that’s going to give me a headache at 2 p.m. Besides the love from my family, homemade cards, and the ability to sleep in, I make sure to give hints for things I want on Mother’s Day. My hubby appreciates not having to guess, and the kids are proud to pick out the perfect Mother’s Day gift.
Here are some of my favorite gifts to give and receive on Mother’s Day. May this guide inspire you to drop hints to your loved ones, or help you when shopping for the special moms in your life.
Who doesn’t love a little time away to get pampered? It’s easy to pick up a gift certificate to the local nail salon or spa, and it’s something that moms always appreciate. Some of my favorite Santa Rosa locations are Blue Polish, Me Spa and Aqua Nails. Brownie points to those that book the appointments for you. One less thing you have to do.
The minute I walk in the house from work, I immediately change into lounge wear (or even pajamas, depending on the day). I’m all about being comfortable. In fact, if a Snuggie was more socially acceptable to wear around, I would wear one. Whether for my birthday, Christmas, or Mother’s Day, I always appreciate a new robe or pajamas. We don’t buy them for ourselves that often, so receiving a new cozy robe as a Mother’s Day gift will make every mom happy.
Moms have a lot of stuff to carry. Extra granola bars, hand sanitizer, band aids, business cards, notebooks, and more. So, we need a handbag that can hold a couple cans of La Croix to take us from a softball tournament to the pool. I love my tote and wallet from Barrington Gifts. You can pick the shape, material, color combo, monogram, leather, and other design aspect. My wallet and tote have both held up through continuous wear. These are great gifts for any mom this Mother’s Day.
Have you ever met someone that says they drink plenty of water? Me neither. I don’t know about you, but if I have a fun drink container, I’m instantly motivated to drink more water. I love this plastic tumbler. Talk about feeling great while sipping water. This would be a super fun gift to give a sister, friend, or other special mom you know in your life. And bonus – you don’t have to spend a lot of dough on this great gift.
Something Shiny & Sparkly
Personalized necklaces and bracelets never get old. From dainty to bold, there are so many options that pull at this momma’s heart strings. I love a simple necklace that you can wear with anything. This one is perfect. In addition, this one can be layered with different initials and/or necklaces. These are timeless pieces that you can wear for years to come.
But not the kind with the spinning ballerina to the tune of Black Swan. I’m talking about a grown up jewelry box. The kind that looks pretty displayed on a dresser. My jewelry used to be strewn all over the place. I just got one of these, and I love how simple and clean it looks. Most of all, having a legit home for your bling makes you feel like you made it. Or at least that it’s harder for your daughter to rummage through. This would be a great Mother’s Day gift for yourself, so maybe don’t ask for one. Just treat yourself and go get one.
