Twelve Date Night Ideas for 2017

The beginning of every year is usually filled with all of us making resolutions we will never keep. Losing the holiday weight, learning a new language, taking that cooking class, or my personal favorite becoming more organized! So this year why not make it easier on ourselves and make a resolution that is both fun and easy to keep. One date night a month for you and your better half to forget about being parents and concentrate on yourselves.

And in no particular order let the fun begin…

Food Trucks

Sonoma County has some of the best food trucks in California so venture outside together and nibble on Croques & Toques or try local farm ingredients at Foodie Farmhouse

Or perhaps you are craving a quiet adult environment, no Chuck E. Cheese tonight! Find a local candlelit restaurant with soft playing music where kids are not encouraged to attend. Make reservations, dress up (no worrying about anyone tugging at your dress or pulling your earrings) and have an uninterrupted adult conversation

Go Wine Tasting (because you can!)

Wine tasting in wine country is such a given, that I think we forget we have this option available, Sunday through Saturday, all day long. Alternatively, WNO, Wine’s Night Out, is a midweek treat (weekends can be hectic with family commitments and countless kids activities) and takes place at Santa Rosa’s Flamingo Resort Hotel on Fourth Street once a month throughout the year. Try new wines while you meet the people behind the labels, enjoy some food and listen to music during the two hour event.

Listen to live music at the HopMonk, three locations can be found within Sonoma County. Many live performances sell out fast so make sure you check schedules online and purchase your tickets in advance. Other music venues with both live local music and chart topping performers include Petaluma’s Mystic Theatre and Cotati’s Redwood Cafe. The Silos in Napa is another great stop!

Sit Down and Sip on Coffee

Want to just sit down and relax while you catch up with one another? Try a new coffee spot, we do have plenty to choose from with this list!

Wine Country is famed for its hikes, we have some of the best trails in the country. Whether you want an easy walk or a sweat breaking workout you are sure to find something to suit you both.

Massage / Spa

Go for a quick massage or relax for the day at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn Spa. Check their website for special offers throughout the year and make a much needed parent date! Solage is another fantastic escape if you’re already in Napa.

Beach Date

Tell the kids you are going to a work event and head to the beach without them! It is amazing what you will hear when the kids are not screeching for treats or yelling for more sand toys 😉

Venture Out

Drive to a nearby town and enjoy what they have to offer without the car journey filled with kids music, bathroom stops, or screams of “are we there yet?”

Camp Out

Whether it be in a RV or a tent, go camping at one of the local campsites for the night, look at the stars and remember why you moved to Sonoma County… the outdoor life, the peace, the clear skies, or maybe it was just your partner!

Movie Matinee

Take a break during the day together and go for a movie matinee!

Staycations have been made so much easier with local hotel restorations and Airbnb’s. Spoil yourselves without having to travel too far or pack too much!
