Our family welcomed another sweet baby girl at the end of this August. My husband and I were thrilled to find out we were pregnant again, with the expected dose of nervous mixed in! As most parents know, each birth and baby can be very different, and the journey from conception to parenthood can be daunting without adequate support. That’s why I was so happy to learn that there are a variety of options for birthing and parenting education in Sonoma County. I was especially excited to hear of a beautiful birth center, located right here in Santa Rosa. Thrive Center for Birth & Family Wellness is an comprehensive center and very much a sanctuary for families, offering lovely spaces for giving birth and receiving holistic care and education.
If you are pregnant and beginning to review your care options, I would highly recommend a tour of Thrive. Divided in two, each side of the center focuses on specific community and family needs. On one side, you have the birth center itself, complete with a family waiting area, kitchen and restrooms, exam rooms, and birthing suites. The large birthing suites serve as your home away from home, offering generous family-centered rooms, plush (king!) beds for birthing and bonding, and roomy bathing tubs for natural pain relief during labor. Of course, if you find that you’re most comfortable delivering baby in your very own home, Thrive is also proud to offer birthing services that come to you.
In addition to their birth specialties, Thrive’s other side, the wellness center, offers a variety of services not limited to: massage, acupuncture, and nutritional and family counseling. Their extensive list of classes, groups and community events are available to support you as you journey through pregnancy, birth, and into parenthood. Our team recently met with fellow mama and Thrive yoga instructor, Lily, for an hour of laughs and relaxation. If you’ve yet to find your perfect setting for a weekly “reset,” this just might be your place!
If you’re looking to stock your home for success, look no further. I was pleased to see some of my favorite family products, as well as some new ones, lining the shelves at Thrive. The tea room and apothecary boasts a wide variety of herbs, available alone or in special combinations, for care and recovery during pregnancy and postpartum. The center’s shop offers natural and organic products for this special stage in life that your family can feel good about.
Best of all, you’ll find that the Thrive staff and caregivers are all passionate people working towards common goals. With family as their focus, they strive to build a community that supports all families in every stage of life. For more information and to explore the many offerings available at Thrive, visit the center online here, or in person at: 4859 Old Redwood Highway, Santa Rosa, CA 95403.
