Creator Faire

The Petaluma Chapter of the Kiwanis Club is pleased to sponsor the third annual Creator Faire, a maker-style community event celebrating hands-on learning, on Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 12 to 4 p.m. at River Montessori Charter School, 3880 Cypress Drive in Petaluma.

The 2017 Creator Faire attracted more than 400 children and adults and the 2018 edition will be even bigger and better! At the Creator Faire, parents, volunteers, nonprofits, and local companies at tables, under tents, and indoors to provide this fun and educational experience to children of all ages — rain or shine. Favorites include designing and launching paper rockets, building with magnetic blocks, picking apart a variety of electronics, and messing with a whole range of mediums such as paint, chalk, and slime. New this year: students from across Sonoma County will compete in a Physics Olympics, with awards in three categories: Lego Bridge, Flying High and Ball Launcher.

2018 Creator Stations will be hosted or sponsored by students, parents, and local organizations including The Bird Rescue Center of Sonoma County, FACTS (Families Advocating for Chemical and Toxics Safety), Hamilton Stoneworks, National Academy of Athletics, Northern California Chapter of the Mars Society, Mermaid Slime 4U, Petaluma Rocks, Play-Well TEKnologies, Pretty Paper, Raymond A. Ramos, D.D.S. & Associates Pediatric Dentistry, Simply Solar, SSU Biodiversity Outreach, and TerraVerde Renewable Partners. Food and drinks will also be available for sale.

All this for a suggested donation of just $7 per person or $25 per family! Tickets can be purchased on the Creator Faire web site (https://rivercreatorfaire.com/attend) or at the door. All proceeds from the Creator Faire benefit the River Montessori Foundation, whose funds go directly to the school for ongoing operations.

This is the second year that the local Kiwanis Club chapter has sponsored the event. Petaluma Kiwanis Club has served our local youth since 1954, donating about $80,000 each year to education scholarships, projects and organizations. Kiwanis is joined by supporting sponsors BumpCity Bakery, Hamilton Stoneworks, Raymond A. Ramos, D.D.S. & Associates Pediatric Dentistry, Revive Kombucha, and Simply Solar.
